Well, it is the new year now, and Wes seems to be growing more everyday. He now has breakfast and dinner with baby food, along with me nursing him. He seems to be teething more and more. No teeth yet, but I don't think they are very far off. He hasn't mastered sitting up on his own yet, but he is trying very hard to do it. He can sit in your lap almost upright, but he can't do it by himself just yet. Pretty soon, before we know it, he will be crawling all over the place.
Christmas was a ton of fun. Wesley got a bunch of toys and clothes from his grandparents and aunts and uncles. We went to church on Christmas Eve, and he did very well. He only cried out a couple of times, but I guess that is what they make cry rooms for:) My parents came up and stayed for Christmas Eve night and were there for Wesley's first Christmas morning. We all got up and opened a few presents, then had some breakfast and headed to my parents house for Christmas dinner. We had a wonderful dinner and then spent some time playing games and visiting. It was such a nice day.
I had the opportunity to pick up some shifts at the post office the week after Christmas. It was not too busy with mail, but working everyday for a week proved to be rather exhausting. I have not worked that much sine before Wes was born, and by the end of the week I was kind of glad for it to be over. I also picked up a couple of days in the last week. I can now say that I have been initiated in the post office by delivering mail at -20 degree weather! It made for a cooooold day, but I was able to get through it.
Randy and I were able to sneak away for our first overnight on New Year's Eve. My parents came up and watched Wes for us and we went out for the WHOLE NIGHT! We went out for a very nice dinner, then went to a hotel to celebrate. Neither of us realized that it had been five months since we had a quiet night alone. It was a fantastic evening and it left us both refreshed.
We are looking forward to the next few months. Wesley goes in for his 6 month check up in the beginning of February. We are planning a trip to Mississippi to see Randy's grandmother in March. And in April we plan on taking Wes for his very first swimming lessons. Already we have a very busy spring and it hasn't even started yet!
